Cloud-Based Centralized Network Management
Managing a network across multiple sites or a large number of devices can be chaotic — each device managed separately, inconsistent configurations, no clear picture of what is doing what and why. Cloud centralization means one interface, one source of truth, and the ability to push changes to all locations in a single action.
Codex Media designs and implements cloud-managed architectures that are operationally meaningful — not just "add a Meraki/FortiGate Cloud controller" but rather setting up a management model that matches the size and needs of your organization, with clear documentation and the ability for your IT team to operate independently.
What it includes
- selection and configuration of cloud management platform
- onboarding of all sites and devices into the centralized system
- template configurations and centralized security policies
- centralized management of Wi-Fi, switching and routing infrastructure
- real-time status visibility across all devices and sites
- automation of routine operational tasks
- alerting and monitoring with defined thresholds
- documentation and IT team training
What it means in practice
- configuration change across 50 sites — one click instead of 50 SSH sessions
- see which device is offline, when it connected and why it went down
- a new site can be operational in under an hour
- fewer manual errors because configurations are applied from templates
- IT team focuses on problems, not repetitive routine tasks
Typical scenarios
Chain with 20+ locations
Each site has its own network, its own admin, and its own configuration set. No consistency, no visibility. We centralize management to a cloud platform, standardize configurations, and give the central IT team a single-pane view of all locations.
Fast-growing company
The company opens new offices every few months. The classic approach means sending an IT person to each new location for hours of work. With centralization, a new site gets its standard configuration automatically as soon as the device connects — no travel costs, no waiting.
Company without an IT department
A small company has no internal IT specialist — it deals with network problems ad-hoc. Centralization with cloud monitoring means Codex Media can proactively monitor network health and intervene before a problem affects business operations.
Where it makes sense
- companies with multiple business locations and distributed IT
- environments where infrastructure changes or grows frequently
- organizations with regulatory requirements for consistent security policies
- companies that want to reduce the operational burden on their IT team
- systems requiring proactive monitoring and alerting
How we approach centralization
We start by analyzing the existing infrastructure and the operational habits of your IT team. Based on that, we choose a platform that makes sense — not the "most popular" one but the one that fits into your system and budget.
Migration is carried out in phases, with old and new infrastructure running in parallel until everything is verified. At the end we deliver documentation and training — the goal is for your team to be autonomous in day-to-day management.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if the internet connection to the cloud goes down?
Devices continue operating with the local configuration stored on them — the network does not stop because the cloud controller is unreachable. The cloud is used for management and monitoring, not for carrying production traffic. New configurations sync when the connection is restored.
Can I use my existing equipment?
It depends on the manufacturer and model. Some platforms (like Cisco Meraki or FortiGate Cloud) require compatible hardware. We analyze what you have and propose a migration path that minimizes unnecessary equipment replacement. In some cases a hybrid approach — part legacy, part new cloud-managed devices — is operationally reasonable.
Is cloud-based centralization secure?
Yes — enterprise cloud management platforms use encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication, and granular access control. The key is correctly configuring administrative access and roles — which is part of our implementation. For organizations with high security requirements, on-premise management systems are also an option.
How long does implementation take?
For a smaller single-site environment — about one week. For a distributed environment with 10+ sites — 3 to 6 weeks of phased migration, depending on site availability and complexity. Each site is migrated in an agreed window that minimizes operational disruption.
How much does a cloud management license cost?
Costs vary between platforms — some charge per device, some per site, some annually. We analyze your environment and compare options with a real TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) calculation. In some cases, open-source management platforms are a valid operational alternative.
How does this fit alongside SD-WAN or network security?
Cloud centralization and SD-WAN are complementary — many SD-WAN systems have cloud management as a native component. Security policies are set centrally and applied consistently across all locations. See our SD-WAN solutions and network security pages for the full picture.
